Christina Lake Arts and Artisans Society (CLAAS)

Artists and artisans from around the Christina lake and Kettle River Valley area have banded together to form a society that will bring recognition and facilities to the region's artistic community, the Christina Lake Arts & Artisans Society (CLAAS) is a registered Charity which has been formed with the following purposes:

1.To increase the public's understanding and appreciation of performing and visual arts through art displays and the operation of an arts centre.

2.To provide instructional seminars and workshops on topics related to the performing and visual arts; and

3.To undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the aforementioned charitable purposes.

Christina Lake Arts & Artisans Society continue to bring Arts & Culture to Christina Lake. Fundraising events are always underway to help offset our Gallery operation expenses and to raise funds for the second phase of development, art studios, and an outdoor Amphitheater. Annual Fundraisers are Fundival/Fiestaval in August and Chocolate & Champagne in November, as well as several music and dance performances and art workshops and classes throughout the year. Throughout 2012-2013 we had performances from Dustin Bentall, Operantics , Ben Sures & Dead Stringers, Alan Kirk Band, Lowry Olafson & Clover Point Drifters. As well as teaching workshops and classes by Best Selling author Nick Bantock writing/arts workshop, Cindy's Stained Glass, Fused & Mosaic classes for kids & adults, Lucinda's Repurposed Art & Glass Beading classes, Joan & Ruth's watercolour classes.

Outstanding contributions are made from artists and volunteer members running the Gallery, hosting performances, writing grants, running and organizing classes and workshops, and running and organizing our Fundraising Celebrations. CLAAS is always seeking community members to help with various responsibilities in our art community, we welcome you to contact CLAAS for volunteer opportunities.

CLAAS 2012-13 Highlights: awards:*BDAC outstanding contribution to the arts & *KAST Innovative Organization Final Four . CLAAS also received *New Horizons for Seniors Volunteers Training Grant, Canada Summer Student Grant, Get Youth Working Grant and helped host Community Futures Job Training .
